And now, thanks to an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly. the winds from the east have brought us some amazing new images and insights into what looks like a truly magical new Mary Poppins adventure. But before we admire these new images, here’s what we know about the film so far:

Coming to theaters Christmas 2018, Mary Poppins Returns stars Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins and Lin-Manuel Miranda as her lamplighter pal, Jack (who was an apprentice of the first film’s chimney sweep, Bert.) It takes place in the mid 1930s—25 years after the first film’s events—and will take us back to 17 Cherry Tree Lane, where Michael Banks (played by Ben Whishaw) now lives as an adult with his wife and three children. Michael’s sister, Jane (played by Emily Mortimer), has grownup to become a union organizer (their mother would be so proud!) And after the sudden passing of Michael’s wife, Mary Poppins returns to Cherry Tree Lane to help guide and lift the spirits of the Banks family.

According to Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive, there will be magical adventures to the top of London’s Big Ben, to the bottom of the ocean, and dancing penguins. (We’re all about the dancing penguins!) We’ll even meet Mary Poppins’ cousin Topsy (played by Meryl Streep), who lives in an upside down house. This sounds wonderfully whimsical, and we’re so ready to go on these new, jolly holiday adventures!

And now, we’re thrilled to present this fabulous new Entertainment Weekly magazine cover. featuring Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins: She looks practically perfect in every way! Notice her amazing polka-dot gloves? Fab. We can’t wait to see Emily Blunt portray this iconic and magical nanny.

Entertainment Weekly also gifted us all with some brand new images and concept art from the Mary Poppins Returns set! Here’s lamplighter Jack with Mary Poppins and the three Banks children—Annabel (Pixie Davies), Georgie (Joel Dawson), and John (Nathanael Saleh). We want to be a Banks child so we can go on adventures with Mary and Jack, too. This image comes from a scene in the streets of London during a musical number to the new song, “Trip a Little Light Fantastic.” The new music in Mary Poppins Returns is written by Tony-winning composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

This next image featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack is making us want to cheer with joy. Check it out: We literally want to burst into song just looking at this photograph.

Here’s concept art of Cherry Tree Lane in springtime: We’re in love. And we want to live here. We’re also feeling the need to skip and sing.

Here’s Jane and Michael Banks with the three Banks children welcoming Mary Poppins: Mary’s blue coat is beautiful—and we spy her parrot umbrella!

Dick Van Dyke, who played Bert in Mary Poppins and is filming a top-secret cameo (not as Bert, though!) in the sequel, said that he felt at home on the set of Mary Poppins Returns. Judging from these images, we can see why. This film looks just as supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as the classic, and we will be anxiously waiting for Mary’s return in 2018!
